White Turf: Polo on the Frozen Lake
Published on February 18, 2025
Champagne on ice, literally. The unique spectacle of St. Moritz in February.
St. Moritz in February is the winter playground of the aristocracy. The White Turf horse racing event on the frozen lake is a bucket-list experience that combines adrenaline with extreme luxury.
The Event
Watching thoroughbreds thunder across the frozen lake of St. Moritz is a surreal experience. 66 Elite members enjoyed the spectacle from the exclusive VIP tent, where the champagne is always chilled (naturally) and the fondue is hot.
Where to Stay
Badrutt's Palace: The Grand Dame of the Alps. It is the place to see and be seen. The lobby is a catwalk of fur and diamonds. We recommend the Hans Badrutt Suite for its breathtaking views of the lake.
Kulm Hotel: For a slightly more understated (but no less luxurious) experience. Their spa is one of the best in Switzerland.
Dining
CheCha Restaurant & Club: Run by Reto Mathis, this is the spot for truffle pizza and caviar on the mountain. It is accessible by ski or car, but we recommend a horse-drawn carriage for the full St. Moritz experience.
Nightlife
Dracula Club: Founded by Gunter Sachs, this private club is notoriously difficult to get into. It is located within the Kulm Hotel grounds. 66 Elite holds a membership, granting our clients access to the jazz nights and the exclusive parties.
