Contemporary Collecting: Frieze London
Published on October 12, 2024
Navigating the Regents Park tents. Investment art pieces that caught our eye.
Frieze London brings a vibrant energy to the capital. For the serious collector, it is an unmissable opportunity to acquire works from emerging masters and established icons. The tents in Regent's Park become the center of the art world for five days.
The Strategy
66 Elite arranged private walkthroughs before the VIP hour. This 'pre-VIP' access is critical. It allows our clients the first refusal on key pieces without the pressure of the crowds. We advised on several acquisitions of large-scale sculptures that are now destined for private sculpture parks in the Cotswolds.
Where to Eat
Sexy Fish: It remains a favorite for the art crowd. The private room, surrounded by one of the world's largest collections of Frank Gehry fish lamps, is the perfect setting for a post-fair dinner.
The Arts Club: Dover Street. We facilitated temporary memberships for our international clients, giving them a home base in Mayfair to entertain dealers and artists.
Logistics
Buying the art is the easy part. We managed the logistics of shipping and insurance for several high-value acquisitions. Our partners specialize in fine art logistics, ensuring that a delicate canvas makes it from London to a freeport in Geneva without a scratch.
